I purchased this watch to wear on a daily basis. In my job, having a durable watch is a must. This watch is very functional and easy to read. It carries on the tradition of CASIO for making very durable watches. I like the slim profile and it is very comfortable on the wrist. Great product !

If possible, I would give this watch 4.5 stars.
Pros:
-Like all G-Shocks it's rugged and water resistant to 200 meters
-The watch looks good. I have received many compliments.
-Easy to read negative display (compared to some other negative displays I've seen)
-The layout of the display is great for me (time dead center with large numbers).
-Comfortable band
-The band is easily replaced because it uses standard screws (unlike many G-Shocks)
-Some cool features including automatic back light and a customized message on the face
-Did I mention that the watch looks good?
Cons:
-Price (currently priced at over $100--I got mine for around 80 shipped)
-No solar or atomic feature (some might expect that for over $100)
-The black ring around the face is susceptible to nicks.
Overall, I really like the watch. I wear it every day. I didn't give it five stars because the black ion plating on the watch is sure to wear off over time. If this is a problem for you, there are other versions of this style without the black ion plating (the white/silver version is really attractive).

This is a super-sweet watch. It doesnt do anything very special like some other G-Shock watches (except you can enter your own personal message on the top section when in time mode), but it looks sweet, its beefy, and its a quality casio timepiece. I have a big wrist (I would say bigger than average, but not huge) and it doesn't look funny or too big. It was thicker than I expected, but I wanted a beefy watch. The buttons are can be awkward to push, but you get used to it (casio purposely designs them this way so that if you drop it or bump into something the buttons wont get damaged or pushed).

This G-Shock watch is by far one of the most useful, light yet solid and comfortable watches I've ever owned. I wanted a somewhat retro design in a black LCD watch and I chose this. The square design fits me perfectly and if you choose the black plated model, the shine gives off an air of unique classic design.
I'll admit something right now. I'm sort of a geek, and I love the movie "Aliens" (1986). I needed a new digital watch so I said to myself "Hey, maybe I can find one that sort of looks like it'd fit in the Aliens universe!" I picked extremely well in that regard. Michael Biehn's "Hicks" Space Marine character seems to wear a watch much like this one in the movie. I pray you don't have any Xenomorphs hunt you down while you wear it! (If you do, stay frosty.)
Back to the watch. I've had a few watches with resin bands actually break on me before; this band doesn't seem like it'd be succeptable to that. It's lightly textured with that sort of 'soft touch' rubber texture you may have felt on products before, which is great. One of the many alarms in the watch is a unique one in my experience: you can choose hourly chime for which hours' duration you'd like. An example: I have my watch set to chime on the hours from 6am to 5pm.
You can mute the button press beep, and if you do so, two completely hidden LEDs fire instead, flashing when you press a button. The light is small but noticeable. Normal presses in this manner light red, then when you get back to the time-keeping screen, a second amber LED fires a blink.
The backlight is a typical cyan color, and if you choose it can activate without a button press.
This watch is NOT solar powered, nor does it time keep with an atomic clock. It functions on a standard battery, and trust me; the battery life will last YEARS, if any prior Casio G-Shock watch I've owned has taught me anything.
You can choose to type custom, scrolling text in the banner above the time. The upper and lower banners of information offer two different font thicknesses for clarity of reading them, and even the LED contrast can be fiddled with in 7 different modes. Mode 1 allows for a nearly black screen, while mode 7 has clearly defined numerals on the black background.
My only worry (and it's a small one) is that the ion plating on the metal face frame may chip in time from banging it into things accidentally. I'm NOT, however, worried that the crystal of the screen would be damaged; it's recessed deeply into the frame.
Amazon offers a leather band version of this watch as well as the resin band (the one I just reviewed). Casio also makes a model with a bright metal frame instead of the ion plated black one I chose.
