Perfect for rugged adventurers and weekend warriors, the solar-powered Casio Pathfinder men's sport watch is loaded with a digital compass and altimeter/barometer/thermometer--perfect for both mountain trekking and cave spelunking. It also includes tide and moon graphs and moon age data, and is very precise thanks to its atomic timekeeping features. The durable round watch case (measuring 50.5mm/1.98 inches wide) and bracelet are made of titanium, which is nearly 50 percent lighter than steel, but 30 percent stronger. It's also particularly resistant to salt water corrosion, as well as hypo-allergenic--perfect for those with metal allergies.

The altimeter offers 5-meter measurements from -700 to 10,000 meters, and it can store altitude, month, date and time data, provide tendency and differential graphs, track cumulative ascent/descent, and sound an alarm when you reach a specified altitude. The watch also has a digital compass with 16 points of measurement displayed on the dial face. Other environmental and timekeeping features include:

  • Barometer with atmospheric pressure tendency/differential graphics
  • Thermometer
  • World Time: 29 times zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off
  • 5 daily alarms
  • 1/100 second stopwatch with 24-hour capacity and elapsed/split time modes and 1st-2nd place times
  • Countdown timer with 60-minute range
  • Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2099)
This watch also features a ±20-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving. This solar-powered watch has a battery life of up to 5 months on a full charge (without further exposure to light).

This multi-band radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from several locations across the globe (the U.S., UK, Germany, and Japan), and it has an auto receive function (up to 6 times per day). You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

 "Nice watch!!" 2009-12-04
By William E. Packard (Denver)
OK. I went a bit overboard, and got a bunch of features I don't need. We don't have much tidal action in Denver. I started out wanting a new G-Shock to replace my favorite watch EVER, that died after several years of use. All I wanted was atomic time, and solar recharging. I spent to much time looking at alternatives, and wound up with this watch. I love it! It is a bit bigger than I expected, but all of my other G-Shocks were, too. I get used to it. The features are excellent, the buttons are actually useful, it keeps awesome time, it's easy to read and understand, and it is good looking. Everything works as expected, as long as you don't expect this do anything except keep time with a high level of precision. The other stuff give you a very good idea of reality, but it's a watch first. A really fun watch to have, but still a watch. If the price is OK with you, buy it. You won't be sorry. Guilt feelings, maybe, but never sorry.

"P.O.S. that needs replacement or refund" 2009-11-15
By Michael Khoury
THIS IS THE ONLY WATCH I HAVE OWNED THAT NEEDED REPAIRS. THIS CASIO HAS BEEN SHIPPED (AT MY COST) AND REPAIRED AT TWO (2) DIFFERENT REPAIR CENTERS AND IT STILL HAS ISSUES.

Like others have stated, I cannot get the Altimeter function to work at all over a 24 hour period. My co-worker also has the same problem. Yesterday his showed -60 ft and today it is at +220 ft all from the same desk. My new expensive PAW-1500T-7V ALTIMETER NEVER WORKED even with the Casio Tech Center CONFIRMING the adjustments with my local temp / barometric pressure. They had me pay shipping to the California repair center that replaced module sensors. I found after repair & return that the altimeter still continued to swing from +40 TO -60 TO + 220 TO -120 all from my same location (which is elev. 33ft.) This watch altimeter will not work over a 24 hr period if you switch to any other mode(time, etc.)overnight. I was then told to send it to the New Jersey repair center(again I was to pay that shipping cost) by a nice customer agent who told me to ask about the replacement policy. The next New Jersey agent told me that replacement was only if they could not repair the watch. The next day, I was left a message that the new Jersey repair center found that my watch was working and they could find no problems. I immediately returned their call and asked that they verified over a 24 hour period that it would keep a reasonable altimeter reading before they returned it to me. I was told the repair center supervisor was on the other line and could not talk to me. I left my phone number and asked if he could please call me back. No call from the supervisor that day, just an e-mail that my watch was shipped back to me that afternoon.

One of my original repair requests to the California repair center was regarding the moon adjusting function which I assume has some relation to the tide function. On about 11-10-09 I have now discovered that "high tide" adjustment will not remain on any evening (PM) settings, only daytime (AM). Another function that does not work on a new watch! I will begin an uphill battle to get a full refund, hopefully with all my shipping costs.

I warn you that if you get a bad Casio watch, you're out the money and time wasted with any and all problems. I love how New Jersey repair center just ships it back to you as if you're an idiot with no information as to the problems you've experienced with your watch.

It's your money, ARE YOU WILLING TO TAKE THE CHANCE???!!!!

 "Jumbo" 2009-11-06

I got this watch for my husband because it has a lot of really cool features. Unfortunately, it is so large that it looks absolutely ridiculous on his arm. Seriously, HUGE. Also, be warned that Amazon is really strict about its 30-day return policy. So, if you get it and hate it, mail it back ASAP. We are now stuck with a watch fit for Fred Flintstone.

 "Excellent Buy" 2009-10-19

I was in need of a new watch, my citizen wasn't cutting it. And I was headed out west for a week in the mountains.

Upon arrival my watch was well protected in its packing, I must say, I wasn't expecting the intricate package design. The manual is small, but easy to read. I haven't had any trouble learning the functions on the watch. If I can't figure it out on my own a quick look at the manual is all I have needed to school myself up.

The major test was my trip to WY. The titanium band is extremely light, and never felt too heavy or got in the way during long days of hunting. Using topo maps I checked the accuracy of the altitude and compass features. The altitude was generally within 20ft of the altitude on the map, and compass degrees within 5-6 degrees of my silva compass.

I have had this product for over a month now, and am extremely pleased with its performance. I would recommend it for anyone who spends a lot of time in the outdoors, hikers, hunters, fisherman.

So many functions. I bought it mainly for the tide function but find myself using most of the other functions. Easy to learn. Lightweight and comfortable.
