This is my all time favorite watch. I have owned one since about 1995, having special ordered it from AAFES. I recently misplaced it and thought I would never find another, but low and behold, they are still available for much less than the $80 I originally paid. This watch has a built in remote and lots of preprogrammed TV settings. -A blast when you are at a bar or restaurant when you have had enough of the channel they picked or want the volume up or down. If you have the remote for the device you want, you can "learn" anything and program it to any button. Mute is a good one to program, or any VCR functions fwd, rev, rec, stop, etc. Only drawback is that there is no backlight. Batteries last about 2 years under typical use. I am happy to report that my misplaced watch turned up, so now I have a spare! The original band lasted about a year, then I put a Speidel "speido-flex" band on it and it is much more comfortable (less sweat). Get one and have fun!

I have used this watch from Casio for about 20 years. This is my third one of this particular model. I have been completely satisfied. None of the others I have had has ever failed in any manner. I update them as they get scratched or the buttons wear down. My previous one is still operating perfectly and I just wanted to get a spare before the model disappears from the market.

I'm usually a big fan of the saying, "You get what you pay for." But, not this time. With the Casio CA53W-1, you get everything you paid for and more....much more. Except maybe a prom date. It might actually hinder your chances with that one.

Jokes aside and with the purpose of making this a useful review, I managed to find a few small complaints.

- No backlight, which is something I can live with. Afterall, it's the 21st century and most buildings are equipped with lightbulbs.

- It's not water resistant. It can handle a few drops now and then but, you can't go swimming with it or anything.

- It's slightly fast. Every month it gains about 15 seconds. But hey, with the time you save not dating anyone, you'll have plenty of opportunities to synchronize this watch with the respective time zone.



Other than that. It's all good.



Don't mind my sense of humor. It's just that I'm a proud calculator watch wearin' guy and thanks to that, I'm very accustomed to taking jokes. I hope you can understand where I'm coming from. And I hope you experience the same joy I have with the Casio CA53W-1 (or whatever it's called) watch.

I bought this watch a week ago and I was disappointed it didn't have a detailed date. It only showed the actual day. Another thing is there is no light for when you need to look at the time in the dark which is very important to me. I guess it serves me right for not looking and inspecting it before I took the tab off which now I can't return it. If you need a light and detailed date on your next watch DO NOT get this one. You get what you pay for I guess.

The product arrived on-time in it's original packaging as advertised. It's definitely in new condition and works perfectly. A great watch for casual use although I wish the face was slightly larger.
