The watch could be a little thinner but it is not a complaint. I really like it so far.

"Excellent watch and a great price." 2009-10-21
By Julius Kovatch (Roseville, California USA)
I have many watches and this is my everyday watch alternating with the light grey color dial model since I got one of each. I do not understand some people complaining about how difficult to use it and they have to carry the manual with them. I am retired, over 65 and do not have any problem to remember all the basic functions I need to use when I am on a trip. All in all it is a very nice looking watch, very accurate and an excellent value for the money buying it from a first class place and one of the most reliable source Amazon.com.

Highly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a good loking watch at a very reasonable price for everyday use.

"Great Buy For Less Than $25" 2009-10-11
By Jeffery H. Reynolds (Dallas, TX)
I bought the watch as I wanted an inexpensive casual watch with a metal band. I liked the picture of the watch so I ordered it.

I like it.

I also bought another casio watch with this one that has the same guts.

As with the other one, the crystal does scratch easily so don't go banging this thing against walls. Also, the backlight doesn't do much good.

But... all in all, I like this lightweight watch.

I rate it only with 3 stars but don't let that discourage you. It's a good time piece.

"Good watch for the price -- a compromise on form and function" 2009-09-30
By tylernt
I have been a big fan of Casio Telememo watches for some time and have owned several. This particular model represents a balance between features and looks; on the upside, it has the fancy Casio features you expect, plus it looks good. On the downside, the features are a little less convenient than on other Casios.

-Looks

Many have complained about the color being closer to purple. I disagree -- it's indeed a very dark and muted grayish blue, but I would not call it purple. The silver band, dark gray accents, and blue and gray-blue dial work well together and is the main reason I chose this over other Casio models.

The analog face is easy to read in the daytime, but at night the yellow light only weakly illuminates the analog hands (Timex's Indiglo puts it to shame) and it doesn't light the digital LCD display at all. Truth be told, though, even on other Telememo watches the backlight goes out when pressing buttons in the Telememo and other features, so really the main thing you lose here is the ability to see the date in the dark.

-Features

The Telememo function is here but is definitely a poor implementation. Scrolling through the database, you see only names, not numbers. You have to press the SET button (which is hard to remember) to see the number, and even then you don't see the whole number -- it is scrolled by slowly only 5 digits at a time. Still useful if you're stuck somewhere without your cell phone, though.

Unlike some other Casios, you cannot set a date on the two alarms, only a time.

The World Time, stopwatch, and countdown timer function as usual.

Turning DST (Daylight Saving Time) on and off for the digital portion is relatively easy, but for the analog portion it's slow and painful in the fall as you have to advance the hands around the dial 11 hours (Casio should really have linked the digital and analog clocks together!). Similarly, setting the analog hands initially also required a look in the book to realize the "H-S" mode is the "Hand Set" mode.

-Summary

Casio had to compromise on some features (light, Telememo) to squeeze them into an analog watch, so the user experience is not as polished as it is on other Casio models. Still, if you want something a little more stylish and a little less geeky than a full-digital Casio Telememo, this is a good choice, especially considering the low price.

-Long-term Update

After about 6 months of ownership and daily wear, it's holding up ok. Both the plastic face and the plastic bezel have acquired scratches, so durability is not impressive... but then again, what do you expect from an inexpensive watch.

 "All the functions" 2009-12-16
By PhotoFlash (Broomall, PA, US)
I am a diabetic and use a watch with multiple alarms to keep me on schedule. My Citizen Nighthawk had broken for the fourth time in the ten years I've owned it. Rather than spend the $125.00 to have it repaired again, I decided to look for something to replace it. Of the dozens of watches I researched, this one came up with all of the features I was looking for at a very reasonable price. So far, it's working fine. Check back with me in a couple of years, to see if I'm still as happy.

A great choice for globetrotters, this stylish Casio analog-digital stainless steel watch for men combines the timeless look of an analog watch with the functionality of a digital watch. The round watch case has a raised bezel that frames the silvery blue dial, which includes a full Arabic numeral display and luminous dagger-style hands. A digital window sits above 6 o'clock displays time from a second time zone, thanks to the integrated world time function with 29 time zones (30 cities). You can also store short notes on the 30-page databank (with 8 letters and 6 numerals per page).

The watch includes a stopwatch that can time events down to 1/100 of a second, and features a 24-hour capacity, split time, and 1st-2nd place times, as well as a countdown timer with a 24-hour capacity.  "alarm is so polite that it can hardly be heard" 2009-10-23
By Carl Schwartz
If you are buying this watch for it's alarm feature---forget it. It can barely be heard if you are wearing it. The digital portion of the face is hard to see as there is a shadow cast by the upper part of the display. The general appearance of the watch is appealing. A call to Casio for assistance with the alarm problem provided no help. I returned this product and purchased a Timex IronMan, as suggested by a Timex representative. This watch provides an audible alarm that meets my needs.

 "Watch Light Too Dim" 2009-09-22
By St. Louis Lookin' Dude (Jackson, MS)
Overall this seems to be a decent watch for the money. It looks pretty good and works well so far. But my biggest gripe is that the back light is useless. It is so dim that viewing the watch in dark environments is impossible. I hate to knock off two stars in the rating for this, but it's a huge deal to me. When it's even a little dark, the watch essentially becomes a bracelet. Too bad.

 "Still a Casio" 2010-02-14
By Tom (Iraq)
I bought this watch to replace a Casio I had misplaced. I am working in Iraq as a contractor and I hear how hot is it all the time. This watch seemed to have it all in one . The thermometer is not accurate at all,not even close. Other than that it is a Casio and dependable.

By Josh Jeffords
this is a heck of a watch for the money I spent more for much less at wallmart couple years back.

I will never use all the features but as a simple chronometer it is well worth the cost, I have to say the thermometer is goofy at best.

I will research it and try to make it actually work otherwise I might take off another point as a working thermometer would be handy.

"calibratation useful for indoor situations only" 2010-01-09
By surfzombie (Morongo Valley)
The case on this watch broke after a month. The edge of the watch that connects to the wristband pin snapped off. This watch case is not rugged at all. I was able to fix it with superglue and it has been fine since the repair however. I work as a gardener in the Palm Springs, California area and purchased the watch to monitor summer temperature readings at work. There is a popular review in Amazon that states the key to owning the watch is to calibrate the temperature gauge. Yes, that is true if you use the watch for indoors situations. In outdoor situations of over 100 degrees your arm will act as a giant cooling condensor lowering the watches temperature by up to 10 degrees. The hotter it gets the less accurate the reading is while the watch is being worn. Calibration of the temperature gauge is useless on this watch due to the wide swings of the daily temperature at my workplace. Yes, if you use the watch for indoor areas, calibration of the watches temperature gauge may be a good idea but in my situation I found it totally useless. In cold weather my arm acts as a heater making the watches temperature gauge useless. If you take the watch off your arm it can be useful to monitor the temperature which is the only way I would use it. This Casio watch likes to swing wildly on temperature readings for some reason. I have a digital temperature/humidity gauge that I purchased at Walmart for 6 dollars and it does a better job at reading temperatures than this Casio watch.

"Nice watch, but needs a screen protector" 2009-10-21
By K. Kietzke
This is a nice watch. However, as some reviewers have mentioned, the bezel is not protected at all. I solved this problem by trimming a screen protector to fit; I bought this one: Case-Mate Screen Protector Film 3 Pack for iPhone 3G, 3G S but any screen protector should work. I doubt the screen protector would stay on if I went swimming with it, though.

The thermometer seems to be reasonably accurate. Some reviewers have complained about the thermometer being affected by their skin temperature, but I don't think I've ever seen a thermometer that *wasn't* affected by the temperature of the surface it was sitting on, with the exception of the ones with remote sensors, which isn't what I want in a watch. I just take the watch off and let it sit for a little while when I want to see the temperature. (I normally wear the watch on my belt, where the position is too inconsistent for calibration to work, so I can't comment on that.)

The hands sometimes block the digital display, but it generally isn't too hard to look around them.

The price on this watch was $33.11 when I bought it; I think it is an excellent watch for that price, even with the added expense of a screen protector.

"I wish I could buy another one of these watches???" 2009-12-31
By Chaffee Cline (Northern California Coast)
A great watch but Casio does this thing where the watch band pin goes into the watch is cheap plastic; after awhile the pin just wears out the pin hole and the watch is unusable because you cant put a pin in it to hold the watch band. A big rip off. I have had 5 or more expensive Casio watches become unusable because there isn't away to put the watch band on? I am sure that as people wake up to this, there will be a class action lawsuit against Casio for premeditatedly having watches to break after awhile. I wish I could buy a Casio watch, I wont give any more money to those con artist's. A greedy shame of them. What used to be a trustworthy brand is now just a rip off scam.

"Nice features, crappy plastic surround." 2009-12-15
By W. Metge (Spokane, WA)
I've had this watch for about two and a half years and the pin that connects the band to the watch is in a plastic hole (even though the entire rest of the watch is metal). The plastic broke. I had our local watch shop re-drill the hole deeper and the plastic broke again about a month later. There is not enough plastic now to hold the pin. The watch is useless.

I did enjoy the features although the thermometer is not very accurate. The lens is a little soft and is easily scratched, however our watch shop will buff it out for free. It buffs out nicely.

I really like this watch. As an international traveler, it gives me all the time options I need. As a guy who likes to cook, it gives me countdown and timer funtions. The tide and air temperature functions are just fun to have. I lost my first one after having worn it for 3 years. I was glad to find I could get this watch through Amazon when I needed to replace the first one.
