"Great watch, could be better though..." 2009-12-03
By Miguel Aguiar (Lisbon, Portugal)
Love the watch. Bought it trough Amazon, delivered on time. Amazing functionalities!

The ligth can turn on automaticly wich is great, but the led is too poor. I think it would be great if all the digital parts would turn on, instead of just a little led in the lower part of the watch.

Nevertheless, I would by it again.

 "Excellent, but not simple" 2009-11-18
By N. Teal (Atlanta, GA)
Excellent watch! Sturdy, well made. Functions perfectly -- world time, solar recharging, synching with atomic clock. Feature packed with everything I need and a lot more. I travel often and the World Time and dual time features are VERY useful.

The only thing that keeps it from 5-stars is the complexity. Keep the manual handy for a while till you get used to HOW to use the features; it's not always common sense. Otherwise, I'd buy this watch again and for friends and family.

"Concur with Jim G's review- awesome watch with one big flaw" 2009-11-18
By S. Schindler (Florida)
I love this watch- it is beautiful and looks amazing. Fit and finish are top notch. It will probably last forever. Has 6 band reception of atomic time signal radio stations from the USA (WWVB from Fort Collins, CO), Europe, Japan, and China. I live in Florida and it receives WWVB without any trouble. Even just sitting on my desk on the east side of the house, it receives the signal, even though Colorado is west of Florida, so the signal makes it through the house (the manual states you should place the watch near a window at night). The way to help ensure reception is to point the top of the watch towards Colorado. LED light is very bright which lights up the watch face. Metal band is of good quality and looks great. Will probably show scratches fairly easily since it is simply black finished stainless steel. However, the twin LCD displays are of the "reversed" type and are super hard to read 90% of the time. So, I am going to return it for the GW2500B-1A model, which is less expensive because it has a resin band instead of a stainless steel band. It has a regular LCD display instead of the reversed display, so it will be much more readable. This watch is a little better looking than the GW2500B-1A because it is all black with white lettering and the metal band looks great (at least until it would likely get scratched up with use). However, I need to see the LCD displays and while I knew the reversed type would be harder to read than regular LCD's, I didn't expect it to be this hard to read. I love the watch otherwise and can't wait to get the replacement! If you don't need to see the LCD's all that often, this is the best looking watch of the three in the G-Shock Aviation series. I love G-Shocks and own three G-Shocks, a Casio Pathfinder, and two Oceanus watches also (Casio's "high end" line)!

 "exceeds expectations" 2009-11-01
By Gerry A (York, UK)
I bought this watch based on the discussion on a number of forums, and I was not disappointed. Although more bulky than my usual watches (which are 'fashion' watches), it is not too bulky. The bracelet is *very* comfortable, and easily adjusted in a jeweller or at home if you have a watch or eyeglass screwdriver (you may need a tool with a very fine point also if you want to adjust the last link into the clasp). The digital displays are not easy to read in dim light, but they're fine if you simply use them to change settings or for occasional reference. The built-in light does not illuminate the digital displays, so in the dark you'll only be able to read the time. If you will be relying on the digital displays, get one of the other models with the black-on-grey display (this is the orange-on-black version, which looks fantastic). The other versions don't come with the metal bracelet, though. The combinations of button press for the different settings are easy to remember (and you can download the instructions from Casio - you need the 4 digit number on the back of the watch to get the right version) or just refer to the booklet. I've been in both the US and UK and it picks up the radio signal effortlessly in both (hotels are always a challenge - leave on the windowsill). In terms of functionality, the ability to swap between time zones is really useful and easy. This is a great watch for the frequent traveller. The watch shows its charge, which will vary between medium and high. It charges very quickly even under artificial lighting conditions. I can't speak too highly of this watch. If you *think* you'd like it, but aren't sure, just go for it. There are few watches out there that pick up radio signals just about everywhere that has them, are solar-powered, and water resistant down to 200m. This is a terrific watch. I wish I'd bought two!

"Nice watch - poor LCD display" 2009-10-24
By Jim G
Nice looking watch. The bold hands on the dark background with large numbers at the 12 and 6 positions made for a clean, smart display. Unfortunately the two LCD screens had a dark background with a light orange, alphanumeric display and that combination on the LCDs was nearly invisible unless viewed under bright light and from a particular angle. I returned the GW2500DB-1A watch and ordered the GW2500B-1A which has a light LCD background with dark alphanumeric display (and resin wristband).

In related news, the watch arrived and the internal battery was depleted. This was not a problem because I exposed the watch to sunlight for about 4 hours and the internal solar cell was able to recharge the battery. Also, the pointer on the left sub-dial did not register the correct function (stop watch, world time, etc.). This was easily corrected by following the Hand Home Correction procedure in the owner's manual. I live near Boston and the watch did sync easily with the time signal from Colorado which is near the extreme range of the Ft Collins signal.

"The best sports watch I've ever owned..." 2009-12-31
By T. L. Schultz (Oregon)
Had this watch for over a year now and its still going strong and looking good. Color is VERY light purple; much lighter than picture. Love the chunky, heavy feel to it. Glass face is still in pristine condition thanks to the rubber "bumpers." I use the alarm and running mode features, and also have several time zones programmed in. Some dirt does get trapped under the bumpers and around white buttons. But would DEFINITELY BUY THIS WATCH AGAIN. Plan on ordering another in a different color.

"Watch "was" cute. After 3 weeks, the side button fell off. Casio repair was TOTALLY useless" 2009-09-03
By maggie
The first baby G I bought was great, lasted for more than 2 yrs and still going. I bought another one for my younger daughter. After 3 wks (1 month from date of order), one of the buttons fell off. My daughter wear it to swimming. She is not an active child. So I sent it in for repair. I got a quote of $30 plus tax, shipping for a $50+ watch to replace the button!!

I was shocked it is not covered under the warranty. So I called the service representative According to her, warranty covers only the mechanistic functioning of the watch. Everything can fall off but if it works, then you are out of luck. But again, they can say you abuse the watch. So I said can't it be a quality control issues? She said, there is no recall. I said not necessary a recall type just manufacturing problem. She said if so, then I would have seen it once I open the box and their QC is 100% !!!!!! Wow, I am amaze. I need to work in Casio manufacturing. She said, "I am not saying it is your child but maybe she hit it somewhere..." At this point I felt that this lady was just saying anything she wants (100% QC!!!)

I said I want to talk to the supervisor, she said "no" since this is not an issue for sup. I insisted and finally someone who claim to be a manager talked to me (This "manager" even got my name wrong). Repeated the whole thing plus that I used tapes to tape the watch onto the box. She said that (the tape) was also a problem!!! I replied that it was done to prevent the watch from "jumping" around during shipping. Wow, now I know that baby G needs to breath so it cannot be taped. Then said my daughter is young, active .... I shut her up by saying, this watch claimed to be for sports. If she cannot jump, swim in it then what good is it? There was no dents or deep scatches on the watch (I want to say no scratch but I never know). She said she will see what she can do and call me. We shall see.

And one reviewer mentioned that the watch gets stuff on it. This one did. Maybe because of the daily swimming my daughter did. That was also a problem she mentioned about this watch not being covered under warranty.

I can understand that it may not be covered but the first representative was totally abnoxious. Telling me that it CANNOT be casio's problem. I will not buy a casio product anymore because many camera owners reported problem with their warranties too.

"This is a terrible watch" 2009-05-02
By ktwolf (Laurens, NY)
This is a terrible watch! The features are hard to figure out, and the buttons are difficult to use. The watchcase is huge, but the numerals are too small to read easily and the bands across the face obscure some of the writing on the watch. It's also fairly heavy. I've had Baby-G's before, and this particular style was a BIG disappointment. I'm sending it back.

"One weakness - the band" 2009-11-04
By Pete Vander Haeghen
I love the design of this watch and bought two of them when they cost $60.00. The only thing is the plastic section of the band that connects to the watch. Both bands have failed at that same place. The plastic cracks and breaks. I have been able to replace the bands with another metal one. The new bands pin into the other weak spot -- the plastic connecting piece that looks like metal. Eventually that gives way too. Now that the price is less than half of what I paid for them, I'll buy another one because the functions are so great.

 "Wise Choice" 2009-12-04
By J. Navarro (California)
I looked at the various casio watches. I debated many times which one would work best. After reading all the reviews from this watch and all other watches. And searching for pictures online and trying different watches on, I decided this was it. I was right. What a cool freaking watch. Looks good. Has all the function as the other watches. Just perfect. I'm very satisfied. I replaced the band it originally came with because it was plain ugly. Nevertheless, this watch is great. Not too big like the other casio, nevertheless, my next watch will be a bigger case diameter, titanium watch.

"Better getting the PRG 110 model without the atomic time update feature" 2009-08-26
By Jeremy Lee (Singapore)
If the Protrek PRG 110 is available in your area, it is better off getting it than the PAW 1300. the multi-Band 5 Atomic Timekeeping feature is not very useful at all as it will require you to put your watch near a window at night to get a clear signal to update.

With so many of us owning car GPS units, you can easily get the the update by synchronising your watch with the time there instead. GPS time is also synchronised with ground based atomic time keeping facilities.

Both models are identical otherwise in features. The price difference will be what you pay for the atomic time keeping feature. It might not be worth the difference in price.

 "Excellent Watch !!!" 2009-07-02
By G. Belthur (Charleston, SC)
Did a lot of research before betting my money on this one...and it paid off. The watch is very thin compared to its earlier models and functions flawlessly. The orange and black combination is very good. But for day to day use, I prefer a plain nylon band that I bought from [...] # 22mm. The orange band is of solid construction and looks durable. The atomic sync feature works consistently on clear sky nights. The watch needs around 5-6 minutes direct sunlight once in a while. After the first solid charge, I haven't bothered to figure out if it's getting enough light or not..but the battery indicator never moved to M from H. Couple of hours of darkness, and the watch goes to sleep...shake it or expose it to light, and it comes back without missing a beat...Barometer works well and pretty consistent with the weather outside. I haven't had a chance to measure altitude well enough, but looks ok. Compass needs some careful calibration or its easy lose bearings easily. Once I did a full two-direction calibration, it has just worked.

I will probably wear this daily for long long time. Worth every penny.

The price has increased by $[...] since I bought it in early June 2009.

"great watch but don't like the band" 2009-06-18
By Bin Xia (Charlotte, NC)
When I bought it, there's only one straight face picture and i didn't realize the band goes thru the back of the watch (which adds a layer to the thickness of the watch and offsets the slim profile). Now there's multi-angel photoes and you can see the band also has shining holes that don't look elegant to wear in an office environment. And the description still says the band is made of resin but it's more of a cloth type of material.

But the watch itself is very nice so I am keeping it despite the ugly band.
