Nice Watch . Only drawback is battery life without sunlight but it will charge in front of a lamp.

I can't say enough about this purchase; the price was right for a basically zero maintenance timepiece. You get a quartz movement powered by charges from both outdoor and indoor lighting coupled with the ability to receive time signals from the atomic clock in Fort Colllins Co. Shock resistant too; it's a WIN, WIN, WIN.

"no good for welders or mechanics" 2009-11-02
By joelness (Randle, WA)
This watch has been all over the world with me since I got it in 2003 and has served well. It's good in the water and will definitely take a beating. I just have to mention the couple of hang ups I've had with mine. If you're a mechanic or deal with a lot of petroleum products then try to keep them off the watch as the pretty attention grabbing ring around the face of the watch is only attached with glue and will peal off if you let it stay too oily or hot. The other issue comes along if you weld much as the solar feature of the watch will peeter out if you aren't careful to keep it from experiencing too much arc. These are only two small complaints in scope considering that most people would never know about them, but I thought that people should be warned as the second can essentially ruin the watch. Other than the two aforementioned items this watch has worked flawlessly and comes highly recommended from someone who puts his watches through a lot. I owned two Forresters and an early Triplesensor before my G-Shock and never got more than a year or two out of them. I'll be buying another G, just not a tough solar as I spend a lot of time with a stinger in my hand now.

I was looking for something reliable for work, I'm a coach operator and keeping the schedule on time is an important part of my job.I noticed a lot of the other operator's used a timepiece that automatically set the correct time so I read the reviews and decided on this watch. Works good and I like it I heard that at one time it was selling at costco for $25.00 but to be honest I still think it's a good deal for the price I paid and quality I got.

"To dream the "impossible watch, to go where your mind can't follow"" 2009-12-09
By M. Di Donato
I received this watch in November and here it is almost the middle of Dec. and I still cannot get the correct time setting . I've tries to set the hour/min in digital and its just not happening. I'm not dumb woman at all....at least I didn't think so until this watch came along. I should have sent it back but I kept trying to find someone who could adjust it for me. Alas to no avail.

I don't understand why a watch manufacturer needs to have such complicated instructions. This watch is not a wonder of engineering so why so hard to set the time.

I would not advise anyone to buy this product. The ironic thing is that I've always been the "go to" person to figure something out, to "fix" something or just be the person you would go to with a problem. I know I'm older now but I didn't think all my brains left me.

 "Good watch" 2009-11-16
By aprettygolden
Although it looks like mainly silver metal, it really is more white plastic than metal. The watch is lightweight and durable. It is hard to read the analog readings because they are in silver and on a white background. Adjusting the size of the watch is easy, but you have to take a silver link and a plastic link out at the same time, loosing over 1/2 an inch each time. The watch looks nice, but still can handle rough daily wear. Would probably buy again.

"nice low budget look of the chanel j12" 2009-06-02
By will33 (Laguna Niguel, CA United States)
This watch just arrived. It only took me about 30 seconds to figure out how to set the time and alarms. Also it has a cool feature wherein you set the digital time and date, and the analog hands automatically rotate and line up at the same time so that digital and analog are in sync. It is very lightweight and I believe it will be a great sporty watch for summer. I wanted something I could wear to the gym and not worry about it getting wet, but also could continue to wear throughout the day and if I had it on when visiting a client it wouldn't look dorky. This works for that. Yes, I'd rather have the chanel but this is a smoking good deal on a cool looking watch.

"Great looking, good functioning watch" 2009-04-29
By C. Uyeda (Hawaii)
I like white watches in general, and since this watch was white, but had alternating metal in between, it looked classy and useful in all kinds of occassions.

The watch is an Analogue + Digital watch, so you get the best of both. It is a baby-G, so it is very durable and highly functional with a stop watch, timer, and alarm. It also has a feature of having world times which was very useful when I traveled to other countries.

I love this watch overall and wear it virtually everyday, but there are a couple problems I have with it:

1. The digital portion of the watch is very hard to see. The digital portion is silver. White background on silver is not the best combination visually. You'll have to position the watch in a certain way to block out sunlight or glare, or you can't see the digital portion. Not a problem if you rely on the analogue portion, but you can't read the dates and seconds readily...

As a medical personnel, I needed a watch with a second hand. This watch does not have a second hand on the analogue part. You have to rely on the digital portion for the second hand. The problem is, you won't be able to see the second hand due to the problem noted above, as well as when the hour and minute hits 30 (or 6 in hours). The second window is right at the half-hour part.

Like I said, I would probably buy this watch again if it broke, and I recommend it to anybody that likes white sporty watches.

I bought this watch for Moon Phase hunting. It has so many features packed into an inexpensive watch. The silent alarm is okay, but you will need to set a few to make sure you get up.  "Perfect for ADHD kids" 2009-11-13
By J. G. Ervin (Austin, Texas United States)
Sorry for the ADHD slant on this review, but its the reason I bought it ( read more about that here [...] ). I needed something with an alarm that had vibrate mode that my son could take to school (can't have cell phones or pagers). I also need something with 5 alarms to remind my son to get his homework list before leaving class. This watch works perfectly. Though the only issue is the date. No matter what I do I can't get the date set correctly, its because of the settings for the moon phases I think anyway we don't need the calendar function.

"Great watch for the $$$" 2009-11-09
By Paydirt (California)
This is a great watch for the money. Lots of features & very comfortable. The moon phase with hunting alerts is great. Helps to break up a slow day in the field. The sunrise/sunset information is great help as well. No longer have to go online to find this info out. All the time memo's were great this for this hunting season. Used it while scouting and recorded when I saw any deer. Records the moonhase day/date & time when the memo button was pushed. Having the vibrating alert is a great feature as well. No more digital beep sounds in the woods. 5 alarm settings is great as well if when you want alarms throughout the day, or one after the other.

I see on other reviews, people say they wake every time with the vibrate alarm. Not so with me, its hit or miss. The alarm doesn't stay on long enough. Works best if I set all 5 right after the other.

The only 2 downsides to the watch so far is that over time the the leather gets burnished where it meets the plastic lug & starts to squeak. I took the the straps off & ruffed the leather up a bit & added a little leather oil. Seems to have fixed it for now.

Second is that it says it has a mineral crystal, thats bull, its definitely acrylic and therefore will scratch a lot easier as I have found out.

But overall just a good watch for the money that gives you lots of features.

By N. Woods (Tennessee)
I had high hopes for this watch as I hate to change batteries and need a watch to show very accurate time, but this one didn't work from the beginning. Sent it for repair to their facility in California as I thought I was too stupid to set it myself but they sent it back and it still didn't work correctly. I was really disappointed. It was my first and last Casio. Lots of style but lousy quality.

By G. Merritt (WA)
I just bought this watch after a lot of research and love it. It does everything I would ever need. I was looking for a Analog/Digital watch because I like the Analog look but like Alarms and stopwatch functions as well. I wanted a two tone look but after getting this one, I am glad I did.

I had a Casio Oceanus that I bought over sees and have had it for 10+ years. Had to retire it because inexperienced people replaced the battery and didn't reseal the back properly. This one is Atomic update and never has to be opened because of the Solar function. No batteries to replace and water resistant to 100M.

The modern gray look is attractive.

"Not the best Casio watch I've ever had." 2009-12-25
By Mr. Dip (Middle of Nowhere (i.e. the best part of Nowhere))
I needed a basic watch for quick switching to multiple time zones while traveling overseas. This one does the job well with very simple one-button functionality. The band is cheap plastic. The back-light is the worst I've seen from all the Casio watches I've owned. Not only is it weak, it stays on for less than 2 seconds, even if I hold down the light button. [BTW, best backlights can be found in Timex's Expedition watches. Better than some expensive brands.]

Pros:

-Light weight. Good for wearing for longer periods of time.

-Best feature is ease of use.

-Easy one-button switching to different modes.

Cons:

-Band is plastic.

-Back-lighting is very weak.

-Back-lighting is way too quick.

"Looks great 'til it scratches" 2009-12-15
By Brian L. Howard (Florence, SC)
Like many other reviewers have said, this is a stylish and functional watch with a significant weakness. I purchased this in 2007, and it continues to run well. I needed a watch that was good for casual office wear and could also keep time at the gym or when jogging. Within a week of office/errand wear it had scratches on the crystal. I now use it as a weekend/gym watch because it doesn't look nice enough to wear to the office. I would not purchase this watch again. I'd by a cheap-o digital from the Big Box store for exercising and a nicer analog watch that wouldn't scratch so easily for those times I need a black watch.

"The watch I like to watch" 2009-12-15
By dk (Long Beach, CA)
Got this watch urgently one night when I noticed previous watch that I wore everywhere, even when swimming, fogged up one night after swimming indicating a leak after a couple of years of good use (different design - also a Casio). The design on this watch was a little different and very functional with both analogue and digital displays. It is very inexpensive, so I figured I would have nothing to lose. I am really enjoying the watch. A little quirky to set up (it is delivered in Tokyo time so you have to adjust based on the largest major city which represents your time zone ---easy but different). I wish the display were a little brighter but it is sufficient. The blue glow that happens when you push the upper right button shows off the digital display well in a dark room. Have gotten unsolicited compliments on the watch by friends and colleagues. It is comfortable as well. The digital second hand animated circle is cool yet functional. All in all I am very very happy with this purchase. No leaks yet. Performs well underwater and on land.

One point that I like about this watch is that it is nice having both the time in analog and digital. The backlight also does a good job of illuminating the time.

The only faults I noticed are that the face scratches more easily than I would like, and the watch is a bit thick.

But overall I would say this is a good buy.

Set a course for adventure every day you wear this solar-powered Casio Pathfinder Triple Sensor men's digital watch (model PAG80-1V), which includes a built-in digital compass, altimeter, barometer, and thermometer. This extra-large, round watch features large function buttons that are easily accessible even when wearing gloves. Both the case and strap are made from durable resin. The digital compass displays 16 directions and has a 5-set memory capacity that captures direction, month, date, and measurements time data.  "Handy watch for backpackers" 2009-10-26
By Ernest B. Engman (Maryville, TN)
I backpack in the east where you cannot always see the sun or surrounding terrain from either tree cover or clouds/rain. I've found the functions on this watch to be helpful when backpacking.

Navigation: The compass is good for a quick orientation of the map or general heading determination, but it isn't accurate enough for orienteering. The altimeter is good checking elevation against known elevations during climb and descent so you can better determine your location on the trail - that said, you should be familiar with how to set the elevation to a reference point and do so as often as possible to maintain accuracy.

Weather: I've also found that the barometer can give you a heads up when there is a weather change on the way. This takes some time to learn and isn't always a perfect way to know what the weather will do, but it can help.

Battery/Solar charging: The multi signal alarms have been just loud enough to wake me up when I need to get out of the sleeping bag by a certain time. I've only had the watch a short time, so I'm interested to see how well the battery holds up over the years with re-charging. It came on a medium charge, and within a day of use was at max charge which it hasn't come down from yet despite a week of working nights.

Size: The watch is a little heavy and bulky compared to a normal watch. But compared to some of the other watches with similar functions it is very comparable.

Price: The cost of the watch almost made me not get one. I tend to go through watches every couple of years. My last watch was a Timex Ironman with digital compass that bit the dust in Iraq and had to be replaced by a cheap watch I found over there. It was my second Ironman in about 8 years. I hope that this thing is rugged enough that the cost ends up equaling out over time over what I would normally spend on multiple watches.

Overall I would recommend this watch for someone looking for similar uses.

I AM SORRY I ORDERED THIS WATCH. IT IS, BY FAR, THE WORST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE FROM AMAZON....THE ONLY FEATURE THAT WORKS CORRECTLY IS THE TIME MODE AND SOMETIMES THE COMPASS. THE THERMOMETER IS WAY OFF EVEN AFTER YOU REMOVE THE WATCH FROM THE WRIST. IF LEFT ON THE WRIST, FORGET IT. THE WATCH IS VERY HARD TO READ AS THE DISPLAY IS SO DARK. YOU NEED TO TAP ON THE LIGHT IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE TIME. I HAD INTENDED TO RETURN IT, HOWEVER I AM 80 YEARS OLD AND A WIDOWER LIVING ALONE AND CANNOT DRIVE TO A POST OFFICE TO SEND IT. SO I AM STUCK WITH IT. YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF BUYING A $20,00 TIMEX AT WALMART THAN THIS WATCH.

this altimeter watch is the fourth i have tried (thanks to generous return policies). it is the first that combines what i think important, namely: intuitive interface, meaning all functions really work and are easy to access, easy to read, and reasonably accurate. altimeter seems quite accurate, provided it is updated at known elevation often. barometer has a useful graph, also easily viewed.

a few negatives:it is BIG! i can't imagine wearing it on my wrist-- but fortunately it is possible to remove the band, and i now have a pocket watch which is what i wanted all along. the alarm is really faint, i don't think it could possibly wake you out of a deep sleep.

The pins have these little retainer sleeves, which are very tiny metal sleeves that slide over the pins and help to keep them secured in the band. The person I asked to adjust it had never seen them and struggled to figure it out.(given it was at a department store, not a true jeweler that carries the Pathfinder watches). We didn't even notice those little retainers were there until the newly installed pins started falling right out. I did not find any instructions in the manual, but the watch band does have tiny arrows on the bottom side, which I can only guess is to help with pin insertion. Advice: take it to a retailer that sells the watch, or make sure you do it over a piece of fabric or something where tiny pieces can't get away.

 "Loving it!" 2009-11-01
By Ho Nam (Washington, DC United States)
This watch is everything I've been looking for in a time piece. I am a obsessive about time. The large dial makes it easy to read the time and date. I love the thermometer feature as well as the altitude and compass features especially when being outdoors on a climb. The barometric pressure lets me know if the weather will turn against me and whether or not if I should hurry to my shelter. The world time is helpful since I am a world traveler. When I'm not traveling, it helps me tune into a local time somewhere else. At work, my watch has been raved and even nicknamed the Millennium Falcon by my boss due to its sleek look. I thought at first that it would be too large for my thin wrist, but it's actually not bad and well proportioned. I would recommend this to any outdoors enthusiast. One can go diving with this watch as it has a pretty deep threshold. Now, if it could only talk, cook breakfast and give me a massage, that would be great!

 "The Worst Customer Support" 2009-10-15
By Rod D. Powell (Pasadena, CA USA)
This WATCH rates four stars. It is light and rugged. I found its functions (aside from telling time) to be helpful, and sometimes fun. However, when my wristband wore out and needed a Casio replacement I discovered, painfully, what a poor company Casio really is. Casio has only two authorized parts outlets in the U.S. (one being only 10 miles from my home, and the other being in New Jersey). I contacted the parts department, and ordered a replacement band and was told that my order would take about three weeks to fill. That was in the summer of 2005. Every month since I ordered a new wrist band I call the official parts supplier and they say the same thing, that nothing has arrived, and that Casio simply fails to honor their orders for wrist bands. I've contacted dozens of watch parts supply houses and hear the same thing.

The Bottom Line: A pretty good watch, but good luck getting parts.

"A watch that does not work." 2009-10-05
By M. salman (UK)
The Barometer, the altimeter, the campus, the thermometer are all imprecise and do not work properly,.... What else would you ask Casio for?

The measurement were not suppose to be precise but "indicative", it is so indicative that North is read as West and after few seconds it changes to South while I was in a farming field away from any electromegnatic fields, altimeter reads -200m when the plane at about 400 meters about to land in Heathrow, meanwhile the thermometer was reading 30.2C in London while it was 14C!!!

It is a waste of money and very bulky, I would recommend to pay more and get a GPS watch.

Casio has been very successful with their products, but not with this one.

 "Nifty Watch" 2009-12-07
By Alex McNair (Corpus Christi, TX)
Hey, a lot of reviewers have already gone over every detail of this watch and I really can't add too much to them. It's controls are intuitive, which is saying a lot, given all the features. The altimeter, barometer, and temperature functions might be useful, if you take the time to set everything up properly beforehand. I've played with them, but I'm certainly not going to rely on them. The compass is quite accurate and handy. World time, atomic time synchronization, stopwatch functions, and alarms are what you would expect and like I said, easy to operate. The watch has a thin profile, not too clunky on the wrist. I actually wear it sleeping, which is a first for me. It's the ability to lord it over everyone else with truly accurate time that is the big draw. Call me the Time Nazi.

 "Awesome watch" 2009-11-13

Had the Suunto Core before with numerous issues. This watch has more bells and whistles and it's cheaper. The band is a little long, but a few careful seconds with a scissor takes care of that. All in all a great watch.

 "Casio Men's Pathfinder PAW1300-1V" 2009-10-11
By Samuel Weiser (NY)
Nice watch I wish the date was larger, the barometer works fine and compass is great! I can't seem to get the altimeter to work correctly. The band loop is a bit snug so I have to force it in or yank it out otherwise its fine for what it is.

"Buyer beware: Amazon tries to sell used watches as "New"." 2009-09-29
By Joel Tunnah (Brooklyn, NY)
First, the watch: the Casio PAW1300-1V is a great watch, well made, and it is worthy of 5 stars.

Now to the important point of my review.

In the last six months I have bought three watches from Amazon directly ("Ships from and sold by Amazon"): Casio DW6600C-1V and PAW1300-1V, and a Timex ironman. All three showed obvious signs of being returned items: fingerprints, missing/crumpled crystal covering, watch not showing through the box window, torn box, etc.

In the case of the PAW1300-1V, the resin band had actual mud in the grooves, and something like dried cola on it. Obviously somebody wore this watch for a weekend on a camping trip, and then sent it back to Amazon, who promptly sold it to me as a "New" watch.

Once, ok it might be a mistake - but three times in a row?? I now believe it is a policy of theirs to try to sell used watches as if they were new, and I will never, ever, buy another watch from Amazon.
