 "Stylish Watch" 2010-03-05
By Alan
I have only had this watch for a day, but I love it! I have owned a couple of Casio watches in the past, all with 5 alarms and a countdown timer which I use a lot, so I wanted a watch with these features. (Previous watches also had a data bank which this does not, but in never used that feature anyway.) I am intrigued by the solar charging and the atomic timekeeping (which my previous watches did not have). I tried to manually get the time signal during the day (by a window, as suggested) but the watch could not pick up the signal strongly enough to set it. However, last night it picked up the signal while the watch was still on my wrist, not even close to a window! The reception must be better at night (this was in Akron, Ohio--1,440 miles from Fort Collins, Colorado where the signal originates). The other thing I like about this watch is that there are no buttons on the left side. My previous Casio watches had buttons on both sides and the ones on the left would rub against the cuff of my shirt and cause the edge of the cuff to shred. (Several shirts got ruined this way.) Not a problem with this watch since all of the buttons are on the right and the left side is smooth. This is also the best looking Casio I have owned, and I love being able to see the time without putting on my glasses (large digits). The only disappointment for me is that the alarm is not very loud and it only goes for 10 seconds. Also, it would be nice to be able to adjust the time interval of the snooze (preset to 5 minutes), but I don't know of any watch that has that feature. The band is very sturdy, but I had some trouble removing a couple of links so it would fit my wrist. I couldn't find any directions on how to do this, but after some trial and error I figured it out: I first removed one of the spring loaded pins that holds the end of the band to the watch, so that the inside of the band was more accessible. (I used a very tiny screw driver to push one end of the pin toward the middle to dislodge it from the small hole in the watch, and then twisted the band to pull the pin sideways and out.) On the inside of the removable links is a small slot with a sliding piece inside which has an indent. I used a large paper clip (it fit this indent), but I had to hold the end of the paper clip with a pair of pliers (I used vice-grips) in order to get the inside piece to move. Don't be surprised: it takes a LOT of force to move this in the direction of the arrow stamped on the inside of the link! You will have to do this with two links next to each other in order to remove one. (The inside piece that slides to release the link is not spring loaded, so at least it stays in place once it is moved.) Then you can twist the link slightly to dislodge it from the adjoining link. After the link is removed, slide the new link in place with a slight twisting motion, and then use the paper clip to slide the inner piece back to lock the link in place. I don't know why it should take so much force to get this locking mechanism to move, but at least you can be sure that this band will not fall apart on your wrist! This is by far the most expensive Casio watch I have owned, but with the solar charged battery, "waveceptor" atomic time setting, and stylish looks, I think it is well worth the money. (Plus I will be saving money by keeping my shirts longer!)

 "Excellent" 2010-02-28

I received this watch 4 days ago and am very pleased with it. The band is big enough to fit large wrists. I had to remove three links. Once I figured out that after moving the latch mechanism you need to lift the link off the band it was easy to adjust the length to my size. I live in NW Florida and the watch has synced every day, although not always on the first try. The watch arrived fully charged and has maintained full charge since I got, even with all my playing with features. I work in an office and have just let the indoor lights keep it charged. The display is easily read even without my reading glasses. The watch is not light although ligher than the watch it replaced. It is very thin which I wanted. Received the watch on Wednesday, the usual excellent service from Amazon.

Watch is exactly as expected as I own a G-Shock watch by Casio. Only one minor complaint; the side buttons can evidently be accidentally pressed by the back of the hand while playing golf.

"Casio Waveceptor WV300DA-7A Stainless?? case" 2009-11-18
By Douglas H. Sargent
I purchased the earlier WV300DA-7A which was then advertised as having a "Stainless Steel Case", I printed and kept a copy of the web page. Imagine my surprise when it fell apart 8 months later revealing that it was metal-filled plastic with a stainless-steel appliqe! Amazon declined to stand behind their advertising and Casio offered to replace it with an identical unit for only $50.00. I am now out a watch and the $100.00 that I paid. In fairness, it did perform well before falling apart.

I collect watches. Whenever the urge surfaces, I can always find a special Casio watch. They have one for every whim. they are not overly complicated and easy to program. I love them.
