With this non-stop, self-adjusting Casio Waveceptor timepiece, you don't have to worry about replacing batteries because it's solar powered and you'll have confidence of always knowing the correct time via the integrated atomic timekeeping technology. This stylish watch is suitable for both professional and casual wear, and it's complemented by a contemporary black resin strap. It includes a stopwatch function that can measure events down to 1/100 of a second for the first 60 minutes (and down to 1 second from 60 minutes to 100 hours), and it offers elapsed and split time modes, and 1st-2nd place times. Other timekeeping features include:
  • World Time: 29 time zones (30 cities), city code display, daylight saving on/off
  • 3 Daily Alarms
  • Hourly Time Signal
  • 12/24 Hour Formats
This timepiece also features an Auto Calendar (pre-programmed until the year 2039), ±15-second accuracy per month, Afterglow backlighting, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving. This solar-powered watch has a battery life of up to 5 months on a full charge (without further exposure to light).

This multi-band radio-controlled watch receives a time calibration signal transmitted from several locations across the globe (the U.S. and Japan), and it has an auto receive function (up to 6 times per day). You can choose to automatically receive this signal four times a day, or manually update the watch to the atomic clock.

Very pleased BUT very difficult to set. Strap should be able to be changed.

 "Great watch except for one thing..." 2009-12-06

I have this watch and another that is very similar in silver with a metal band. Overall I really like this watch but I am subtracting one star because I believe that it is one of the more complicated watches to understand and set. You really need the manual... and the manual can be a little difficult to follow.

Pros:

* Good looking

* Atomic (works great for me near Dallas TX)

* Analog and digital

* Comfortable

* Not too expensive

Cons:

* Difficult to use/set

* Manual is needed and can be difficult to follow

 "Needed to call Casio Help Desk to set it" 2009-12-04

Reading the manual did not help me change the date out of Japanese, or set the time zone. After messing with it for 30 minutes, and having it not respond to the steps laid out in the manual, I resisted the urge to drop kick it back to Amazon and called Casio technical support @ 800-435-7732, press 5 for watches.

I got through to tech support right away and within 2 minutes my watch was set to English and the correct time zone. Immediately the hands on the watch started to move and it set itself to the correct time. Amazing!

I couldn't even tell you the process I was walked through, but it was not in the manual. I'm just hoping the rest of the features are not so hard to figure out. But if they are, I will not hesitate to just pick up the phone and call for help.

I'll update this review after I have more experience with the watch.

 "Great, if you live near Colorado, otherwise..." 2009-12-02

Yes, the settings are hard to comprehend and impossible to remember, but for me the real deal breaker was that the "atomic" time setting function doesn't work in my area, which is just West of Boston, MA. The signal strength icon shows level 2 (4 being the best), and apparently that's not good enough to do the download from Colorado.

The instructions say you must be within about 2,000 miles of the transmitter, less if there are mountains, buildings, etc. in the way (Ever hear of the Rockies?). I wish the description on Amazon had disclosed that fact. According to Google Maps, I'm about 1,990 miles from the transmitter, and even outdoors I couldn't get it to set itself. And anyway, who wants to stand out in the cold for ten minutes while your watch does its business? If I'm going to do that, I would rather get a dog.

Of course YMMV, literally as well as figuratively.

Bottom line: Great concept; flawed description and execution. Back it goes!

Eagerly looked forward to receiving this watch. I do a lot of traveling in different time zones so the atomic watch would be perfect. Also, I am frequently worry about the battery dying on me so the solar battery was a great feature.

I have had several multi-function watches and didn't think it would be a problem to set it up despite what other reviewers said in the comment section.

After trying on and off, for 5 days, to get everying working, I gave up in total frustration and returned the product. Think I'll stick to other, less complicated watches with a 10 year battery life.
